About the Artist
Micol Hebron is a fellow artist whose practices include studio work, curating, writing, social media, crowd-sourcing, teaching, public-speaking, and both individual and collaborative projects. Hebron is currently an Associate Professor of Art at Chapman University and she plays a major role in The Situation Room resource space for the creative community, the Gallery Tally Poster Project about gender equity in contemporary galleries, and the Digital/ Pasty Gender Equity Initiative for the internet, just to name a few. She is also a feminist who presents her ideas and thoughts throughout her artwork and actions. For example, she has presented these ideas at exhibitions, performances, and lectures at many institutions.

Formal Analysis
Hebron’s art is rarely ever a fabrication of an object. She does not necessarily do typical “art” projects that include painting, sculpting, or drawing. She formally delivers her artwork on social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, or her website. Many of her art pieces showcase her body or the body in general. Her art reveals the relationship between the body and the mind. Her art work could be large or small, but usually it is an idea captured through a camera and has meaning behind it. For example, the photo on the right was taken from her instagram @unicornkiller1 and shows her covering her nipples with a graphic while holding a sticker of nipples. The background shows movement and brings focus towards her. There is also repetition as seen through the multiple cutouts of her body.

Content Analysis
Hebron’s body art has a very deep meaning behind it. During the zoom session, she noted that female nipples are almost always censored on social media platforms, while male nipples are completely normal and are allowed to float around the internet. But why is that? Living in a somewhat patriarchal society, these almost-nude photos of Hebron are restricted from the internet as she had gotten several strikes on Facebook and nearly got banned. Her passion towards gender equality is shown throw these powerful images of her body. Her body represents power and is a form of feminist activism in today’s day and age.

My Experience
I was personally taken aback when Micol showed us “disturbing” photos of the human body and her body as it is definitely not the norm in our society. Certain parts of the body are often taught to be kept in private as it is sacred and is a personal subject to individuals. Therefore, it was interesting to see a different perspective and to see this artist showcase her body just like that. The reasoning behind her actions however, is very important and significant. I think that her actions are very powerful and can help feminism progress in the nearby future.
